A UK Asset Manager|Builds Visibility Through Insights and Interviews

A London-based global asset manager sought regular financial coverage in Taiwan while domestic fund launches dominated the news agenda. VOCAL MIDDLE Communications turned monthly publicity reports into market research and connected portfolio managers with magazine features. From February to June 2026, project records show nearly 400 media items and interviews with three financial magazines.

Project Goals

The asset manager offered offshore funds, multi-asset strategies and Taiwan equity funds in Taiwan. Its earlier media retainer had established a regular flow of proactively generated coverage. In April 2026, Taiwan’s equity index first passed 40,000 intraday. During the active ETF news cycle, the firm wanted its investment perspectives to remain part of financial reporting, alongside domestic product launches. VOCAL MIDDLE maintained a media centre to monitor coverage and issues. The objective was to make portfolio managers relevant sources for journalists covering market trends and give the management team monthly analysis it could use to set communication priorities.

Business and Communication Challenge

The project’s monitoring recorded growth of more than 200% in online discussion of active ETFs between March and April 2026. The monthly reports, citing MoneyDJ data, recorded fewer than 300,000 holders of ETF 00981A in February and nearly one million in June. Across seven fund houses, including the client, aggregate coverage in March and May exceeded the corresponding 2025 months by more than 50% and 30%, respectively. Domestic launches competed for editorial space. The client’s global research and local portfolio managers offered another route into reporting: investment perspectives that addressed journalists’ current topics. The communication challenge was to connect those resources with editorial demand and support managers’ inclusion in magazine features.

Strategy and Approach

Put market interpretation and recommended actions before coverage statistics
The monthly report initially centred on media-item counts and PR Value. After the first quarter, VOCAL MIDDLE moved thematic insights and recommended actions to the front, with routine statistics in an appendix. The revised report added monthly active ETF holder and asset-size tables, plus analysis of six benchmark competitors’ communication themes and approaches. Each observation led to a communication recommendation for the management team. An earlier January report provided a reference: discussion of Taiwan equities had risen by more than 40% month on month amid CES-related interest in AI stocks. VOCAL MIDDLE recommended preparing portfolio-manager perspectives ahead of GTC and Computex so material would be ready when journalists needed it.

Match portfolio-manager expertise with financial magazine features
The reports observed that products with the fastest holder growth during the period often had a recognisable portfolio manager. The client’s overseas investment leaders and Taiwan equity managers participated in interviews with CommonWealth Magazine, Wealth Magazine and Business Today, covering global macroeconomics, retirement planning and the AI supply chain. VOCAL MIDDLE prepared interview outlines and briefed speakers on each journalist’s reporting style, then consolidated interview highlights for subsequent communications. This approach gave managers space to explain their reasoning in feature interviews, alongside the shorter quotations carried in routine releases.

Results and Impact

From February to June 2026, the asset manager completed portfolio-manager interviews with CommonWealth Magazine, Wealth Magazine and Business Today. Managers appeared as feature interviewees as well as sources quoted in press releases. Monthly market reports supplied specific communication recommendations, with management discussions moving from coverage counts to market interpretation and next actions. Project records list nearly 400 earned media items and PR Value exceeding NT$27 million over the five months. Monthly coverage rose from fewer than 30 items in February to more than 100 in both May and June; proactively generated coverage in May was 2.7 times the February level. These separate measures document sustained financial-media coverage without a domestic product-launch event, while the interviews and recurring equity perspectives left material explaining the firm’s investment expertise.

FAQ

1.Why did the UK asset manager commission this programme?

Domestic fund launches and active ETFs occupied much of Taiwan’s financial news agenda. The London-based manager wanted journalists to keep drawing on its investment perspectives and wanted monthly reporting to help its own team decide what to communicate next. The programme combined ongoing monitoring with portfolio-manager interviews and timely market commentary.

2.What strategies and services did VOCAL MIDDLE provide?

VOCAL MIDDLE operated a retained media centre, analysed coverage and competitor activity, and restructured monthly reports around market insights and recommended actions. It prepared portfolio managers for magazine interviews, consolidated the resulting material and recommended preparing commentary ahead of industry events such as GTC and Computex.

3.How did the programme differ from its previous reporting approach?

The earlier reports led with media-item counts and PR Value. The revised reports led with thematic market interpretation and action recommendations, moving routine counts to an appendix. Media engagement drew on managers’ expertise in macroeconomics, retirement planning and the AI supply chain, giving the client topics beyond domestic product launches.

4.What outcomes were documented?

The February–June 2026 project records list nearly 400 earned media items, PR Value exceeding NT$27 million and interviews with three financial magazines. Coverage exceeded 100 items in both May and June, compared with fewer than 30 in February. Proactively generated coverage in May was 2.7 times the February level. Each metric retains its own definition and period.

5.How does this case relate to AI PR?

The programme placed the manager’s investment perspectives in dated financial reporting, including named interviews on macroeconomics, retirement planning and the AI supply chain. Recurring Taiwan equity commentary from April to June connected those perspectives with current market topics. These public materials provide investors, journalists and AI search tools with sources for understanding the firm’s research and portfolio-management expertise.
